Scanning enemies will add to your spirit guide addendum (Tobin's to be expanded!). Scanning is vital to knowing the weaknesses of a monster you are fighting; otherwise you won't be doing as much damage. Scanning also reveals the spirit's attacks and any history you may find interesting.

Most ghosts only occur on one or two missions, hence if you want the complete scan, you need to be diligent about scanning. You can replay a mission to get your scanning completion. A fully scanned ghost has its entry available any time you replay a mission.

Tobins 001.jpg

Public Library. Azetlor is the boss of the Public Library. You will be able to scan him once you encounter him.

Tobins 002.jpg

History Museum. This ghost is of the type after you enter the museum's foyer (the Gozer exhibit).

Tobins 003.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. One of the many ghosts in the lobby. You can easily scan this one and take up a few hits.

Tobins 004.jpg

An evironmental hazard found in almost every level. If you didn't scan it, do so before you erase it with the slime blower.

Tobins 005.jpg

History Museum, Shandor Island, and Central Park. Dangerous in large groups. Scanning it at the museum is far less dangerous.

Tobins 006.jpg

History Museum and Shandor Island. One of the few ghosts you cannot trap. Destroy it with slime or other weapons.

Tobins 007.jpg

Shandor Island. The large black boogeyman who wants to rip your face off and wear it like a mask. Dash past it on its side, then turn and slime it.

Tobins 008.jpg

Times Square, Shandor Island, Central Park, and other missions. Where there are monsters coming out, there are black slime portals. They are as caustic as the regular black slime.

Tobins 009.jpg

Public Library. You will get attacked by these constantly at the library. If you miss them in the normal library, get them in ghostworld. Note the red book bats cannot be scanned.

Tobins 010.jpg

Public Library. The ones with the shields need to have their protection wrangled (capture beam and yoink) before you can damage them. If you attack from the side or back, their shields are useless.

Tobins 011.jpg

Public Library. Some break apart automatically while others need you to yank out the head once the body is weakened (close to dying).

Tobins 012.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. When the hallway is flooded, you'll have to fight these guys.

Tobins 013.jpg

Central Park. The final level's version of the PKE pest.

Tobins 014.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. The special mini-boss at the Sedgewick Hotel after you turn the power back on.

Tobins 015.jpg

Public Library. Right before earning the Slime attachment, these guys will attack.

Tobins 016.jpg

History Museum. At the Civil War exhibit.

Tobins 017.jpg

Times Square. Because it's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A. .... and get your throat cut in the middle of the night.

Tobins 018.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. Chef DeForrest's many assistants. Scan then blam.

Tobins 019.jpg

Public Library. One of the two types of full torso animators at the New York Public Library (where FuzzDaCat doesn't work at).

Tobins 020.jpg

Public Library. One of the two types of full torso animators at the New York Public Library.

Tobins 021.jpg

Public Library and Central Park. You battle one at the Public LIbrary as a mini-boss. Scan it then. When they appear in numbers, you'll need to catch them fast before they overwhelm you with summoned monsters.

Tobins 022.jpg

Central Park. This is the more impressive looking ghost at the cemetary. If you want the "One Down, On the Ground" accolade, let them summon flying coffins before you ensnare them.

Tobins 023.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. Scan the ghosts in the kitchen before Venkman's capture beam tutorial.

Tobins 024.jpg

Only some stages have this. The earliest you will be able to pick it up is when you chase Slimer at the Sedgewick.

Tobins 025.jpg

Only some stages have this. The best time is the Public Library, at the entrance when you're hunting down the ghost's hiding spot.

Tobins 026.jpg

Public Library and Central Park. Both the Chairman ghost and the final boss use these skulls to attack you. While the coloring is different, the monster is the same.

Tobins 027.jpg

Central Park. The various crypts have these things pouring out. Looks just like the Black Slime monsters, so you'll have to look for their glowing red eyes.

Tobins 028.jpg

Central Park. The large golems in the cemetary are these things.

Tobins 029.jpg

Times Square. One of the many ghosts in this level. Very common until you start getting Stay Puft's attention.

Tobins 030.jpg

Shandor Island. The boss of this area.

Tobins 031.jpg

Central Park. The last two monsters before the final boss. You need their heads to open the final gate, so scan them, then can them.

Tobins 032.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. One of the many ghosts assisting DeForrest. Scan 'em all and let Tobin's sort 'em out.

Tobins 033.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. The boss of the first level is simply Pappy Sargassi in a ghost mech (possessed objects). Scan it, then yank out Sargassi from the head.

Tobins 034.jpg

Public Library. At the secret reading room of The Collector. The mini-boss before the ghostworld intrudes.

Tobins 035.jpg

Times Square. One of the many midgets Stay Puft secretes from his bulbous form.

Tobins 036.jpg

Times Square. At the Hinderburg opera. Can't miss these chicks.

Tobins 037.jpg

Public Library. One of the many common enemies there. Shotguns work best ... like a twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington -- made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $199.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.

Tobins 038.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. The boss of the hotel, but you have to scan it first before it turns into the golem. You can also scan it right after you pull it out of the golem's body, but be quick or the other Ghostbusters trap it.

Tobins 039.jpg

History Museum. One of the many humans who get possessed at the museum. Scan them then slime them. Other weapons will not injure possessed humans (only slime).

Tobins 040.jpg

History Museum. One of the many monsters in the museum. The explosive forks they throw are similar to the ones thrown by the stone angels, but they do a lot less damage.

Tobins 041.jpg

History Museum. The first ghost found at the stage. They mix it up with the Beauty Queens afterward, so scan the first one quickly.

Tobins 042.jpg

Central Park. The boss of this level. Note that the Destructor Form has no entry.

Tobins 043.jpg

Sedgewick Hotel. Scan this spud once you have the PKE meter unlocked. You can do this after returning to the lobby.

Tobins 044.jpg

Firehouse. This entry is automatically entered at the Firehouse as part of your training.

Tobins 045.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. The spider witch's many minions. Keyword - many.

Tobins 046.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. The boss of this level. The boss regenerates, so be sure to scan her when you are fighting her otherwise she may regenerate all her health she lost the last time you fried her 36DD thorax.

Tobins 047.jpg

Times Square. The big fat guy of the level, although you may not want to scan him when hanging upside down. Try scanning him when you are on the street.

Tobins 048.jpg

Central Park. The most lethal enemy in the game. You may want to scan them after the gate fight, so you have more Ghostbusters around to revive you if you die.

Tobins 049.jpg

Times Square, Shandor Island and Central Park. Wrangle and slam them to destroy them instantly.

advertisem*nt

Tobins 050.jpg

History Museum. The boss of the level. Use the Meson Collider to track him. You may want to use that weapon to weaken him instead of the Boson Dart.

Tobins 051.jpg

History Museum. At the Civil War exhibit.

Tobins 052.jpg

History Museum and Shandor Island. You find more of them in the slime factory, although it's safer to scan them at the museum (you have allies to revive you).

Tobins 053.jpg

Return to Sedgewick. One of the many no-name monsters you apply the ecto-plasmic shotgun to.
