Along with Cashae Monya, fellow actress Kaitlin Becker also plays the popular character Meekah who appears on the YouTube show Blippi.
Speaking of how Kaitlin landed the role, the actress shared with the Children’s Media Association that, it was early when COVID started “I get an email from Moonbug Productions who I’ve never heard of before.”
She added, ” ‘Hey, some people who know you from Sunny Side Up are recommending you for this character that we’re creating. Can we meet?’ And I was like, man, kids stuff. Like New York, you know, I don’t know what’s my problem, but they were just like ‘Can we please just meet with you?’ ”
They met over Zoom due to COVID, they asked her if she heard of Blippi which she never heard of before. They wanted a best friend for him Blippi. When she was visiting Target she saw Blippi printed on underwear. She went to LA to meet with the team after testing her character among other things she was told that they were going to fly her to LA for 10 to 12 weeks.
Kaitlin then learned that they were going to film Blippi’s Treehouse with Amazon kids.
Meekah first appeared on the Blippi YouTube channel as a minor character. She gained popularity for the series rapidly, which opened up other options for her. She began to appear in both the popular Amazon offshoot series Blippi’s Treehouse and the real Blippi TV series, both of which debuted in 2021. Additionally, the character appeared in the 2023 movie Blippi’s Big Dino Adventure.
A Meekah-specific YouTube channel with a similar emphasis on education for kids was started in 2022. On the platform, there are currently over 100,000 subscribers. Even the persona has a dedicated Instagram account with almost 20,000 followers. That’s not all, though. Additionally, Meekah has arrived at Netflix.
A Netflix series called Meekah has been added to the streaming service after being approved back in 2022. There are 28 episodes in the first season. Meekah is the main character, but Blippi does appear frequently in the shorter episodes. Its season has not been extended as of August 2023. It would be stunning if it were canceled, though, given how well-liked the character is.
