The personal trainer posted a joint statement Friday to Instagram, explaining their decision to separate.
He shared a photo of himself smiling with Heidi, who was snuggled up to his shoulder from what appeared to be a happier time.

The Choose to Lose writer continued: 'We will ALWAYS be a family, bound by 4 amazingly beautiful children (and 2 dads).
'And as crazy as it may seem, we wouldn’t have it any other way. All 7 of us receive endless amounts of love and support from each other, as well as from the many wonderful people in our lives.'
Chris wrote on a positive note: 'We promise you the relationship between us will only continue to strengthen, and over time you’ll realize that what we have is more than just a marriage.It’s a true and beautiful life partnership—one we are both incredibly grateful for.'
