Snacks For Kids

Some of my most popular and most requested recipes to date are snacks for kids.

It seems that a lot of you struggle to think of healthy snacks to give your children that they won’t turn their nose up at. And you’re not alone. I do too!

One of thebestsnacks we can give our kids is fruit. It’s fresh, healthy and convenient. But in a child’s eyes it just doesn’t compare to a tempting chocolate bar or bag of crisps!

How To Make Chocolate-Dipped Fruit Cones

In an attempt to make fruit a little more exciting and enticing to our picky eatersI made these Chocolate Dipped Cones and filled them with a selection of colourful fruit.

Getting the kids involved in the kitchen reallyhelps to get them a lot more interested in the food they eat.

These cones are really easy to make! Other than a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan to melt the chocolate, you don’t need any special equipment and the kids can do the majority of it on their own.

You can set sprinkles, toppings, cones and the fruit up on the table ready to go and then let the fun part begin!

Older children can help chop the fruit whilst younger ones choose which berries or which favorite fruit they want to include.

They will all enjoy dipping the cones into the chocolate and deciding what to decorate them with! And they end up with a delicious treat that they have helped make!

When Can I Serve These Chocolate Dipped Cones?

The cones are perfect to serve up as a snack as I mentioned above, but they would make delicious desserts for kids (an adults alike!), in the summer. Perfect for after a BBQ!

These Fruit Cones would also make a great addition to a party. Cupcakes and sandwiches will always go down well at birthday parties, but imagine your guests faces when they see these tasty treats laid out on the table!

Ingredient Substitutions

Fruit – You can be really flexible with this! I have listed what I have used in the recipe card below, but feel free to use whatever you like!

Ice Cream Cones – I’ve used waffle cones this time because they are quite sturdy and will hold the fruit well but you could try different types of cone. And if you have allergies, then gluten free cones should work just fine too!

Chocolate – In order to keep the sugar levels down in this recipe, I’ve opted for dark chocolate, but if you aren’t too worried about this since it is only a small amount being used for each cone, then you could use white chocolate or regular milk chocolate. If the cones are for a birthday party and you have a theme, you could even use candy melts that come in lots of different colours!
