Niemand betaalt graag voor dure autoreparaties, en er zijn weinig reparaties die zo duur zijn als een complete motorrevisie of vervanging. Gelukkig hoeven de meeste chauffeurs zich geen zorgen te maken als het gaat om grote motorschade, zolang je maar volgthet aanbevolen onderhoudsschema voor uw voertuigen laat de olie regelmatig verversen.
Om ervoor te zorgen dat u nooit hoeft te betalen voor een dure motorreparatie, heeft het serviceteam van Mike Shaw Subaru deze lijst opgesteld met vijf manieren waarop motoren grote schade kunnen oplopen. Lees hieronder alle vijf, zodat u weet hoe u deze situaties kunt vermijden en uw motor beter en langer kunt laten draaien.
5. Geen olie in motorschade
Als er tijdens het draaien geen olie in uw motor zat, lijkt het in eerste instantie misschien goed te werken. Maar van binnen zullen alle verschillende metalen tandwielen, kleppen, assen en zuigers die met elkaar meebewegen tegen elkaar schuren en ernstige schade aanrichten. Het kan maar een paar minuten duren voordat de hele motor volledig vastloopt.
Daarom is het zo belangrijk om verse olie te hebben om de bewegende delen van uw motor te beschermen. Als er niet genoeg olie in de motor zit, of als de olie binnenin te ver is afgebroken om voldoende smering te bieden, kan de motor grote schade oplopen en tot dure reparaties leiden.
4. Te vol gevulde motorschade
Het is nu vrij duidelijk waarom niet genoeg motorolie kan leiden tot motorschade, maar hoe zit het met te veel motorolie? Hoewel een klein beetje extra olie geen probleem is, kan een te vol gevulde motor tot schade leiden. Als de motor te vol olie zit, kunnen de bewegende delen van de motor ondergedompeld raken in de olie. De olie zelf wordt dan luchtig en schuimig, terwijl de lobben van de krukas de motorolie tot schuim slaan. Deze schuimige motorolie zal niet goed stromen en zal de bewegende delen van uw motor niet goed beschermen, wat leidt tot vergelijkbare schade aan een motor die meer olie nodig heeft.
3. Ontstekingsschade
Een misfire is de naam voor een explosiegebeurtenis die plaatsvindt buiten de verbrandingscilinders van de motor. In die cilinders verbranden lucht en brandstof om de kracht te creëren die op de zuigers drukt, de krukas laat draaien en uiteindelijk je auto vooruit beweegt. Maar als er een probleem is met de timing van de motor, de vonkontsteking of de lucht/brandstofverhouding, kan dit leiden tot een ontstekingsfout.
Hoewel individuele misbaksels meestal geen groot probleem zijn,een motor die niet goed afvuurt, kan na verloop van tijd ernstige problemen krijgen. Met name een slechte ontsteking kan schade aan de katalysator van het voertuig veroorzaken. Dit is een kostbaar onderdeel om te vervangen als onderdeel van de anti-vervuilingssystemen van uw voertuig, en het is ook een verplicht onderdeel - het is illegaal om te knoeien met de katalysator van een voertuig. Dat komt omdat het schadelijke bijproducten van verbranding omzet in minder schadelijke, zodat uw auto de atmosfeer niet vervuilt.
2. Motorschade door hydrolocking
Wees voorzichtig bij het rijden in een plotselinge overstroming. Als je je een weg probeert te banen door te diep water, kan er water in de motor worden gezogen, waardoor de hele motor kapot gaat!
Veel moderne auto's hebben nu inlaat- en/of uitlaatpoorten die erg laag op het onderstel van de auto zitten. Als u probeert door water te rijden dat meer dan enkele centimeters diep is, kan er via die openingen water in de motor worden gezogen. Dat is een probleem omdat water, in tegenstelling tot lucht, niet kan worden gecomprimeerd.
